Wolf-Gordon Unveils Pompeii
Ancient Inspirations and Modern Artistry Fuse in New Surface Design

| New York, NY - June 9, 2025 | Wolf-Gordon, a leading American surface design brand, announces the launch of Pompeii, a refined wallcovering collection designed  by Madrid-based designers, Studioestudio. This collection elegantly blends historical depth with contemporary art, offering a sophisticated and versatile range of patterns of medium, large and super large scale for modern interiors.

The Pompeii collection draws its profound inspiration from two distinct yet harmoniously interwoven sources: the austere beauty of Frank Stella’s early black paintings and the intricate geometric patterns found in the ancient mosaics of Pompeii. Studioestudio, founded by Laura Alandes and Pablo Alabau, approached the project with an artistic sensibility, experimenting with various painting materials until freehand lines in black gouache infused the artwork with a unique character and vitality. This process, as Studioestudio describes, was guided by the Muses, echoing the Greek tradition of invoking divine inspiration for their works.

The Pompeii collection represents a compelling dialogue between art history and contemporary design. Studioestudio has masterfully captured the essence of timeless patterns and artistic discipline, translating them into wallcoverings that embody both a sense of luxurious elegance and vibrant energy. This collaboration is an exemplary reflection of Wolf-Gordon's commitment to pushing the boundaries of design innovation.
- Marybeth Shaw, Chief Creative Officer, Marketing & Design

At the core of the Pompeii collection's versatility are three fundamental modules: Left Curve, Lines, and Right Curve. These geometric elements can be combined in an endless array of compositions, allowing for diverse and captivating patterns that adapt perfectly to contemporary spaces. The collection’s color palette features soft, powdery hues, spanning from the rich depths of Dark Lava and Ash to the lighter, ethereal tones of Gypsum and Talc, ensuring a sophisticated and adaptable ambiance.

In designing Pompeii, our aim was to merge the historical richness of ancient art with a contemporary interpretation, creating patterns that feel both timeless and incredibly relevant today. The modularity allows designers to explore infinite possibilities, while the tactile quality of the hand-painted lines adds an unparalleled depth and artistry to each installation.

Pompeii patterns include:

Agros: An interwoven arrangement of circular and curved detail that nods to the structural rhythm of architecture of the Roman Empire.

Nebula: A serene, radial composition of softly drawn horizontal lines that emanate from a central axis with natural elegance.

Terra: An interwoven grid of alternating horizontal and vertical lines, bringing a sense of symmetry and quiet order to the space.

Solis: An extra large, floor to ceiling, layered circular motif that radiates with concentric circles.

Each pattern is a testament to the geometric interplay of stripes and circles that elevates modern interiors with charm and a touch of luxury.
