Marybeth Shaw Receives 2024 Justin P. Allman Award
Wallcoverings Association Honors Wolf-Gordon CCO
| New York, NY - January 30, 2024 | Marybeth Shaw, Wolf-Gordon Chief Creative Officer, Design + Marketing, is honored with the Wallcoverings Association’s (WA) 2024 Justin P. Allman Award. Regarded as the wallcovering industry’s highest honor, the prestigious award recognizes one individual per year who has made a long-lasting, positive contribution to the wallcoverings industry.
“I’m so honored to receive the Allman Award from an industry that has been a vitally important community for me over the years. The award motivates me to continue working to strengthen the WA and to ensure the relevance of our products into the future.”
- Marybeth Shaw, Chief Creative Officer, Design & Marketing
After graduating in 2000 with a BFA in Painting from MICA, the Maryland Institute College of Art, Loughlin worked at David Goldberg Design, a handmade wallpaper company, and at J. Josephson, a commercial wallcovering mill, creating bestselling patterns, before joining Wolf-Gordon in 2013. Building on his extensive knowledge of wallcovering and pattern engineering, Loughlin is enthusiastic about what he can accomplish in this new position.
Shaw advances the sustainability movement at Wolf-Gordon and in the industry at large. After serving three years on the WA board as chair of its Marketing Committee, Shaw was appointed co-chair of the Technical Committee in 2023 where she works to explore recyclability.
Building on a background in architecture and design, Marybeth Shaw originally joined Wolf-Gordon in 1997, initiating a comprehensive rebranding as well as a provocative licensed design program that demonstrated the conceptual potential of commercial wallcovering: Linework by Laurinda Spear; Digital Nature by Karim Rashid; and Touch by Petra Blaisse.
In 2004, Shaw founded her own design studio, Shaw-Jelveh Design, where she traced her passion for sustainability with work executed through 2011 for the U.S. Green Building Council. The studio completed over 80 graphic, digital and interiors projects, significantly contributing to the growth of the USGBC and LEED.
Since returning to Wolf-Gordon as Chief Creative Officer in 2011, Shaw has been the driving force behind the company’s brand management, product design and marketing. She focuses on design excellence across the range of Wolf-Gordon’s product categories and communications, and celebrates the Company’s progressive character through memorable digital, two- and three-dimensional projects.
"The wallcoverings industry continues to be inspired by the leadership of Marybeth Shaw, a force driving innovation, design, and sustainability excellence. Marybeth's commitment to advancing the industry is truly admirable and widely appreciated."
