Thomas Cooper Studio Announces New “Rock Crystals” Product Suite
Three New Collections Illuminate the Ancient Allure of Quartz Crystal

| Los Angeles, CA - September 17, 2024 | Thomas Cooper Studio, the bespoke East Los Angeles-based lighting brand led by Jason Kai Cooper and Sally Thomas Cooper, announces the launch of “Rock Crystals,” a new product suite comprising three new collections: Dromo, Revet, and Verdon. Inspired by the historical intrigue and timeless beauty of quartz rock crystal, the new introductions, which previewed at ICFF 2024, present the illuminated unions of fresh, modern profiles with the essence of ancient, natural materials.

Honoring the legacy, mythologies and traditions behind one of the world’s most abundant and mystical natural materials, Thomas Cooper Studio’s latest suite of products pays homage to the ancient allure of quartz crystal, once believed to be supercooled ice by the Greeks and treasured as a talisman by the Egyptians. Rock Crystals is a growing suite of modern lighting fixtures that showcase the natural beauty of quartz crystal in unexpected and inspiring forms.

It includes three distinctive collections, each with custom sizes available:

“Admired and treasured for its mystery and beauty throughout time, popular appreciation for rock quartz has faded since the 20th century, but – we believe its essence never dimmed. We celebrate the material’s innate mystery and beauty with this new collection, which, quite literally, brings a piece of history to lasting light,” says Sally Thomas Cooper.

About Thomas Cooper Studio
Creative partners Sally Thomas Cooper and Jason Kai Cooper, long known for fresh, modern lighting for home and hospitality through their ventures Luxe and Lusive, founded Thomas Cooper Studio to explore the material and sculptural essence of lighting.

The Thomas Cooper Studio collection represents a multilayered, multifaceted collaboration between Jason and Sally. Materials and techniques join forces in a search for the inner poetry of each piece: heat-formed, mouth-blown, flash-cracked glass; carved marble, alabaster, and natural stone; cast and hand-patinaed bronze; hand-polished, leaded crystal. At the same time, a study of sculptural expression creates a balance between shine and shade, density and delicacy, form and function.

Sally Thomas Cooper studied art history, music, and design in her native New Zealand and has worked as an interior designer, production designer, and marketing director for interior products. Jason Kai Cooper studied scenic and lighting design and has worked as a lighting, theatrical, and product designer. The couple have worked together since 1999 and hold Thomas Cooper Studio as the culmination of their shared design passions.

Models in the collection are individually hand-crafted by the skilled artisans in our studio. Custom versions tailored to a specific setting are available by commission.
