| New York, NY - September 18, 2025 | Suomi Design Works is honored to make its debut on Interior Design’s 2025 Hospitality Giants list, ranking 68th in the top 100 for revenue generation in the hospitality sector. Founded in 2019, the design studio is among the youngest firms to be recognized. The annual list celebrates the industry’s most influential firms in the hospitality space, and Suomi Design Works now stands alongside global leaders such as HBA International, Rockwell Group, and AvroKO—affirming its growing impact on the world of hospitality design.

Suomi Design Works’ numerous prestigious projects reflect the studio’s commitment to creating spaces that are both visually striking and deeply connected to their history and context. As the firm continues to grow, it remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of hospitality design while crafting memorable, immersive experiences for every guest. They currently have projects set to open in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Utah, and other locations across the country.

“It is an incredible honor to be recognized by Interior Design for this achievement,” says Michael Suomi, founder and president of Suomi DesignWorks. “We are still a growing company, so to have a seat on the Hospitality Giants list among so many other influential firms is a dream come true. My team and I are dedicated to continuing as a creative, forward-thinking, and impactful force in the hospitality design space for years to come.”

Suomi Design Works’ recently completed projects include The Radical, a 70-room boutique hotel in Asheville, North Carolina, that was formerly a 1920s warehouse. Drawing inspiration from the building’s industrial roots and graffiti-covered walls, the design embodies a “rebel luxe” aesthetic, with high-touch finishes, sculptural furniture, and cinematic color, while Cold War-era details nod to the building’s unique past. The team also designed the property’s in-house restaurants and bars, including the Pretty Vacant Shelter Lounge—a former bomb shelter with original graffiti and exposed brick refined by high-touch finishes—and Afterglow, a caféthat transitions into a vibrant cocktail lounge at night with dramatic lighting and a suspended DJ booth.

Another notable project is their renovation of the guestrooms at the Aspen Meadows Resort. Suomi DesignWorks led the renovation of 98 guest rooms originally designed by Bauhaus visionary Herbert Bayer, restoring legacy furnishings while introducing new pieces that reflect the Bauhaus spirit. The refreshed interiors balance Bayer’s modernist vision with contemporary functionality, featuring iconic furniture, bold colors, and thoughtful details that honor the resort’s cultural legacy.

Methodology
The Interior Design Giants annual business survey comprises the largest firms ranked by interior design fees for the 12-month period ending Dec. 31, 2024. The listings are generated from only those surveyed. To be recognized as a top 100, Rising, Healthcare, Hospitality, or Sustainability Giant, firms must meet the following criteria: Have at least one office location in North America, and generate at least 25% of its interior design fee income in North America. Firms that do not meet the criteria are ranked on our InternationalGiants list. Interior design fees include those attributed to:

1. All aspects of a firm’s interior design practice, from strategic planning and programming to design and project management.

2. Fees paid to a firm for work performed by employees and independent contractors who are “full-time staff equivalent.”

Interior design fees do not include revenues paid to a firm and remitted to subcontractors who are not considered full-time staff equivalents. For example, certain firms attract work that is subcontracted to a local firm. The originating firm may collect all the fees and retain a management or generation fee, paying the remainder to the performing firm. The amounts paid to the latter are not included in fees of the collecting firm when determining its ranking. Ties are broken by rank from last year. Where applicable, all percentages are based on responding Giants, not their total number. All research conducted by ThinkLab, the research division of SANDOW Design Group.
