SUOMI DESIGN WORKS CREATES SCANDINAVIA-INSPIRED BOOTH AT BDNY 2021
The Firm Announces Concept for Montague, Fil Doux, and HB Lighting Booth, Hosts Hospitality on Edge Talk

| New York, NY - November 14, 2021 | For the 2021 return of BDNY (Boutique Design New York), Suomi Design Works celebrates its third booth design for the show with a combined concept on behalf of Montague, Fil Doux, and HB Architectural Lighting that was inspired by the contrasting Scandinavian climate and culture, with the layout reflecting a vibrant hospitality environment.

Led by president Michael Suomi, the firm explored the contrasts between Scandinavia’s harsh climate and rugged natural landscape with its cultural norms of hygge, focused on nurturing familial connection and creating time to enjoy life’s quieter pleasures. Divided between these two elements of warm and cool, the booth’s bar reflects rugged naturalism, while the bedroom expresses the cozy interiors reflected in the ubiquitous hygge concept. Suomi Design Works incorporated naturally finished stone, dry and bleached woods, fur and leather along with other organic materials from its partner brands to execute the concept.

President of Suomi Design Works, Michael Suomi states that “The past year and a half was an opportunity to unwind and slow down, and after this long gap, Suomi Design Works is ready to bring back the energy for a booth that feels warm and hospitable.” He adds, “Our 2021 BDNY booth design honors the validity and need for both restful and energetic experiences, as well as their importance in hospitality.”

Each day of the fair, the four brands will host an open bar to welcome their guests. Suomi Design Works’ booth can be viewed at BDNY 2021 (booth #727), November 14-15 at Jacob Javits Center.

As part of his Hospitality on Edge series, in which Suomi hosts lively no-holds-barred discussions with industry leaders, he will lead 5 Things to Know Now about Supply Chain + Disruption at the BDNY Mainstage #141 on November 15th from 11:30am-12:30pm. He will be joined by Kristen Conry, SVP of Global Designs US & Canada for Marriott, Helen Jorgensen, VP of Design & Procurement at Host Hotels, and Darlene Henke, CEO of Audit Logistics, with Boutique Design editorial director Katie Kervin for an enlightening talk about supply chain disruption and strategy. The hospitality industry stalwarts will unpack what’s happening now, what to watch, and their strategies to get ahead of challenges.
