CRÈME CELEBRATES THE OPENING OF FOURTH REDFARM LOCATION IN AUSTIN
Inviting Atmosphere Crafted With Sharing In Mind

| New York, NY - December 19, 2023 |  Multidisciplinary Brooklyn-based design and architecture firm, CRÈME / Jun Aizaki Architecture & Design, celebrates the opening of RedFarm Austin. The farmhouse-inspired venue, designed by CRÈME, provides a warm atmosphere to accompany its upscale dim sum cuisine. Botanical details and countryside-inspired materials such as natural wood finishes and warm-toned leather nod to the menu's use of fresh ingredients, culminating in an unexpected Chinese dining experience.

Having previously designed the Upper West Side, West Village, and London RedFarm locations, the team incorporated RedFarm’s distinct signature elements alongside new details unique to the Austin location, including a layered white and green marble bar top, adjustable pendant lighting, and built-in partitions to preserve intimacy. Distinctive to the new venue, a highly polished dark lacquer finish is cleverly utilized to reflect light throughout the space while adding a moody dimension to the otherwise fresh design.

“We are honored to expand on our previous designs for RedFarm in New York City and London to include Austin,” says Jun Aizaki, Founder and Principal of CRÈME. “We wanted to find ways to distinguish this design from the rest while remaining true to the RedFarm brand.”

Visible from the street, a red neon sign proudly displays the RedFarm name. Retractable fabric partitions allow the outdoor seating to be utilized year-round. RedFarm’s signature duck silhouette appears as a copper metal inlay outside the main entrance, alluding to the venue’s beloved Peking duck dish.

At the bar located just beyond the entrance, a green and white color palette unifies the shelving, custom millwork, and marble bar top. Asymmetrical shelving displays potted plants, glasses, and various liquors, while leather-covered posts with stitch detailing add texture.

In the main dining room, the design team created a celebratory space with clever features to elevate the dining experience. French curtains enclose the booth banquette seating located closest to the bar to separate the areas with distressed boxes and crates stored above. A planter wall to the side of the room prevents strong lighting in the kitchen from entering the dining area while custom light fixtures with adjustable pendants allow the space to be reconfigured for special events. White painted brick, oak and walnut seating, and pops of red are placed throughout.

“We created a space unique to Austin, utilizing refined materials and design elements to add sophistication and nod to the area and RedFarm’s shared diverse cultures,” added Kohji York-Kawabata, Design Director at CRÈME.

To create a multifunctional private dining room which can be opened to the main dining space when not reserved for an event, the CREME team devised a custom wood and brick partition with double-hung windows. Composed of ribbed glass in multiple hues, the windows create appeal and allow natural light to enter while ensuring privacy when closed. A sliding panel system allows the space to be divided into two distinct areas with lazy susan tables designed for sharing, mirrors extending the views of natural light, and oversized handwoven rattan lighting fixtures suspended overhead.
