Minneapolis, MN - October 11, 2018 | Award winning interior design and branding firm, MARKZEFF, has reimagined an iconic Minneapolis property: the Marquette Hotel. Joining the Curio Collection by Hilton, it is the first of that brand's upscale hotels in Minnesota. Zeff was commissioned to do a $25 million full property renovation, including 282-completely updated guest rooms as well as a new lobby, food and beverage outlets, public spaces and more. The result is an effortless marriage of the city’s history and heritage with thoughtful, contemporary interiors.

The design was inspired by 19th century French explorer Jacques Marquette, who charted and catalogued new areas of the Americas and became proficient in the indigenous languages of the tribes he met. His ability to bridge the gap between cultures and contribute to regional discovery had a huge impact on the city, and is evident in touches like an image of the river he mapped on the wall of the redesigned and rebranded bar and restaurant, Jacques.

“By paying tribute to Jacques Marquette’s contributions to the region, we celebrate the history of both Minneapolis and the hotel’s eponymous figure,” says founder Mark Zeff. “Our design elevates the presence of the past with a twenty-first-century sophistication.”

The lobby features open-concept spaces and a carefully selected collection of inviting furnishings, modern designs and textures that evoke the feeling of a well-curated art gallery; in addition, Marquette’s influence is on display once again in a large painting of the French explorer the towers over the interiors. Ambient lighting and cozy seating invites travelers to relax in chic surroundings, while also creating an effortless space in which to conduct a business meeting or connect with friends over cocktails.

Every one of the 282-guestrooms and suites have been updated with an upscale residential feel that includes monochromatic themes, with clean lines and hardwood floors and soft wood accents of marble. The Minneapolis history theme extends to these spaces, where visitors will find framed historic photographs and maps of the city, some featuring a historic image imprinted on twill wallpaper of the Mississippi River as it runs through the milling district of Minneapolis.
