French Designer Combines Classic Construction with Modern Twists and Fresh Digital Prints In Brooklyn Bound

| New York, NY - May 21, 2019 | Fil Doux Textiles partnered with renowned fiber artist Elodie Blanchard to design their new timeless collection, Brooklyn Bound, consisting of woven classics with a fresh spin and an eye-catching digital print. Their collaboration signifies the company’s beautiful, high performance mill-direct mission and shared love of Brooklyn, the New York borough in which both they and Blanchard are headquartered.

“The five patterns of this collection each capture the unique culture and diversity of the Brooklyn neighborhood they are named after,” says President Leo Novik. “We are proud to represent our borough through this heartfelt collaboration.“

Blanchard, a native of Grenoble, France, elevated classic construction with vibrant color and chunky yarns that create a unique textural quality, as well as elegant and clean basket weaves that combine shiny and matte yarns for extra depth. To achieve this truly unique hand and aesthetic, Blanchard drew on her textile experience as well as her French background, bringing an international edge and European quality. Fil Doux Textiles’ signature Experience Blend provides the luxurious hand in the patterns Forte Greene and Carroll Gardens.

“This collection brings together a sense of authenticity and uniqueness only found in Brooklyn,” says designer Elodie Blanchard. “It's like strolling through each neighborhood and discovering cultures from around the world; I've called this place home for almost two decades, and I’m still inspired daily.”

Park Slope: A twill weave with varying yarns gives Park Slope an authentically organic look and feel. Consisting of two to three yarn combinations, this pattern is flexible in its quiet elegance yet has modern textural sophistication.

Carroll Gardens: This clean basket weave has an unexpected blend; a cotton matte black or grey warp is interlaced with a metallic weft for glimmering dimensionality. The numerous color combinations create a beautiful go-to for any design, including a broad range of neutrals and bright electric shades.

Fort Greene: The most textural pattern in this collection, Fort Greene has a thin warp united with a thicker, elegant bouclé yarn. A structured and luxurious hand makes for a fascinating textile that will complement any design.

Brighton Beach: Based on a studio ink drawing, this large-scale braid is a brilliant graphic statement when combined with contrasting colors. If paired with similar shades, it creates a very subtle effect; the knotted yarn imparts a chic, vintage look.

Prospect Heights: Achieved by layering fun, organic shapes in different sizes and opacities, Prospect Heights is a pattern with a youthful appeal. This joyful, mid-scale digital pattern is easily balanced between sophistication and the whimsical.
