BLACKBARN SHOP, CAFE & BAR LAUNCHES UNIQUE ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAM IN RECENTLY OPENED LOUNGE
Weekly DJ Series Accompanies Newly Introduced Drag Brunch
| New York, NY - August 15, 2019 | BLACKBARN shop, cafe & bar launches a weekly program of entertainment options for all ages to accompany the Chelsea location’s unveiling of a lounge that further integrates BLACKBARN's distinctive relationship of homewares with dining. A DJ series in the space will feature weekly performances by up and coming artists each Wednesday through Friday from 5pm to 7pm and Saturday from 1pm to 3pm. On Sundays, a special Drag Brunch will also feature emerging talent and utilize the new menu and cocktail program by co-owner and Chef, John Doherty.
“Chelsea is a trendy residential neighborhood with an emphasis on social events,” says Chef John Doherty. “We want to offer a program of exciting options for residents and visitors alike to experience in our intimate, home-inspired lounge.”
The DJ series will entertain guests at BLACKBARN Chelsea Market with a range of genres from bossa nova to 60’s hits, Motown, and funk-focused Saturdays. Max Cabral will be kicking off a residency with his long-standing passion and admiration for producing, combining his appreciation for a wide range of music and celebration of his heritage as a New York-born Dominican.
The Drag Brunch program was previewed on National Pride Day with “Lola”, a young Queen who made her first appearance at the cafe & bar during the special WorldPride NYC brunch. Having performed at festivals and events from Vienna to Cincinnati, her local appearances include Pieces Bar and House of Yes, among other prominent LGBTQ+ venues. Lola will again put on unforgettable performances every Sunday at 1:30 and 2pm, with other talents to follow.
