FIL DOUX TEXTILES DEBUTS THE COLLECTIVE WITH PATTERN BY LIUBASHA ROSE

| New York, NY - June 7, 2018 | Fil Doux Textiles has debuted The Collective, a line of collaborative textiles by premier designers, with the release of a pattern created by Liubasha Rose of Rose Ink Workshop. The vibrant, colorful striped pattern, Smile, is inspired by the work of Henri Matisse, an artist close to the heart of the company’s President, Leo Novik.

“It was a joy to work with Liubasha, who sees design in a similar way, focusing on the story and the people that it touches,” says President Leo Novik. “Like Matisse, I grew up in a textile family, and his use of color is a constant source of inspiration in Fil Doux Textiles’ work.”

During the latter half of his career, Matisse utilized white paper and gouache to create works of wide-ranging color and complexity. Influenced by the ingenuity the artist had with paper and scissors during his cut out period, Rose focused on simple geometry for a heartfelt design that relies on shape and color. The pattern was first shown with an added illustration, in the form of a limited edition tote bag at HD Expo 2018, where it was an exclusive giveaway item at Fil Doux Textiles booth.

“I love to disarm people through design and to make them feel happy—to make them smile!” says Liubasha Rose.

Born in Kiev, Rose had her first experience of hospitality at a dinner party in a Ukrainian house, where social interaction set against a background of ornamental dinnerware, patterned wallpaper, and Persian rugs led her into the world of interior design. Prior to founding Rose Ink Workshop, Liubasha was Vice President of Design at Starwood Capital Group where she contributed to the development of two prestigious luxury hotel and lifestyle brands, 1 Hotels and Baccarat Hotels & Resorts, as well as numerous hospitality projects around the world. Rose was the creative director behind the aesthetic of the first 1 Hotel at South Beach, which opened its doors to industry acclaim in 2015.

Fil Doux Textiles will select new designers to join The Collective ongoingly and intends to introduce new textiles to the line one to two times annually.
